Many see the snow from their window and think of how beautiful it is and maybe even they go outside to play in it. Then there are others who were leaving work or school when the snow arrived and it’s a problem for them. Well, what if you’re the person who’s at home enjoying the snow can it be a problem for you?

Yes! The snow that accumulates on your home or business if heavy enough can put a strain on your roof. It also allows moisture to enter your home which can result in leaks and mold issues.

How to prepare for snow?

  1. Keep pipes from freezing by turning on every water faucet to a slow drip.
  2. Check that you have sufficient heating fuel for your home and fuel for your generator if you have one.
  3. If you will be using a fireplace or wood-burning stove, you should have a good supply of dry, seasoned wood.

   4. Have Food & Water:

Bottled water (at least one gallon per person per day, for at least three days)

Canned goods, especially cozy, warming foods like soups and stews.

Snack foods like chips, crackers, and cookies in sealed packages cereal and granola.
