Flood

Unfortunately, floods can happen at any time of year. Obviously, heavy rainfall is most often the cause of flooding, but why is that?

According to the Meriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of the word “flood” is “a rising and overflowing of a body of water especially onto normally dry land.” Floods occur when the ground is no longer capable of absorbing rainwater. It begins in puddles and can continuously rise higher until the water floods homes, buildings and other structures.

If you live in an area that is highly susceptible to floods, it is important that you take precautions to avoid potential water damage. Apply plastic tarps and sandbags to doors, low windows and the side of the house that is threatened by floods.

Flooding often leads to water damage which, if not immediately acted upon, can also lead to mold damage. SERVPRO of North Whitfield & Catoosa Counties are faster to any size flood disaster and can make it “Like it never even happened.” If you experience a flood, don’t hesitate!
