Flood Levels Reaching New Heights
High Tides
As you can see in these photos, the extent of the damage goes to at least knee-level. According to CNBC, the Brazos River was over 10 feet above flood level in Houston as a result of The Hurricane Harvey. As a result, water damage rose to higher points in houses than normal water or general flood damage would. According to The Weather Channel, as we saw in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, urbanization can increase likelihood of flooding by 2-6 times. Urbanization affects the ground's ability to absorb rainfall due to mass paving and less soil to field excess amounts of rain.
